Cafe adds some sun to Sonoma PDF Print

The cozy interior, lush patio, and rather unassuming menu of what used to be the Coffee Garden Cafe on Sonoma Plaza (page 135) has been transformed into something far more in keeping with the wine country's  chi-chi aspirations.

The space on first street, in the historic adobe building once occupied by General Vallejo, is now occupied by the Sunflower Caffe. The double-f spelling of caffe is a dead giveaway that the new establishment is a tad fancier than the former, slightly utilitarian Coffee Garden.

The small sandwich'n'soup menu has been wine-countrified and the furnishings in the cramped interior have gone all Pottery Barn but the wonderful garden patio out back is still alive with plants and is as much the oasis as it was before. Still an ideal place (if a little more expensive) for a quiet break or late breakfast.
